You don't need to register or sign up. Just show up and pay at the door ($15.00 per person for 1.5 hour classes; $12.00 per person for one hour classes). You can join anytime. You don't need to wait to start from the begining of the month and you don't need a partner. Make sure you choose the right class for your level and interest. When in doubt call us for advise at 516-764-0701 or write e-mail to receptions@silvadance.com  MONDAY 8:30-9:30 PM - Basic International Latin This is the class to get started with in International Style Latin. When you complete this class you will have learned the basics so you will be able to start dancing the International style. You will learn Bronze steps in the International syllabus. There is an emphasis on the step pattern, and also Styling, Posture and Partnering skills. TUESDAY 8:30-10:00PM - International Ballroom (International Style Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot and Quickstep are taught - one dance a month - see schedule). This class is great for beginner and intermediate dancers who want to learn and perfect their dance skills in International Style Bronze, Silver and Gold levels. Whether your goal is social dancing or DanceSport competitions that you have seen on TV this class is for you. Owners of the Silva Dance Academy - Mark Barth and Gwen Silva hold a Fellowship and Licentiate degrees in the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing in Ballroom and Latin. Only one dance is taught during the month, allowing the student the opportunity to develop their technique and to learn the different patterns in the International Syllabus. WEDNESDAY 8:30-10:00PM - International Latin (International Style Samba, Rumba, Cha Cha, Paso Doble & Jive are taught - one dance a month). If you are interested in learning the International Cha Cha, Rumba, Samba, Paso Doble or Jive this class is for you. In this class you will also learn one dance per month. You will learn Bronze, Silver and Gold steps in the International syllabus. There is an emphasis on Latin technique leg action, and also use of hands and arms. Some of the time you will be introduced to some open patterns which will also improve your skills. This is a full and challenging class and after a few months you should see a jump in your dance and partnering skills. WEDNESDAY 8:30-10:00PM - Social Dance for Beginners This class is designed for beginners who never danced before. If you have never taken formal dance classes then you need to start with this class. Whatever dance you would like to learn and for whatever reason, first you will need to start with basic steps of few most useful and popular social dances. Foxtrot will be your slow dance that you can dance to any slow music. Hustle is the fast dance that you can do to any fast pop music. Salsa and Merengue are the two must learn Latin club dances. Foxtrot and Tango will give you a chance to dance formal Ballroom. And finally Swing is always trendy. This class you can start anytime. You don't need to register or even call. Just show up at 8:30PM and pay $14.00 per person. at the door. It's easy and it's fun. Salsa is taught every week. Second dance changes every month. SATURDAY 8:00-9:00PM - International Ballroom Two simultaneous classes of International Ballroom are taught before the social which begins at 9:00PM: 1)Beginner/Intermediate level Bronze, Silver and Gold steps are taught. 2) Advanced Open Variations are taught, for those students who have gone through their Syllabus work and are ready to attempt open work. Mark and Gwen teach this class, and guide the students through the variations by demonstrating the patterns during the instruction.
